knots

you never knew

your name was scribed

on the underside

of my foot that travelled

in evergreen kingdoms

and dusty rose mornings

the same foot that traversed

back in time

to let you go your way

and I mine

I untied all the little knots

ones barely supporting my breath

and easy to undo

it was a mass of rope twisting my insides

I couldn’t release

it’s complication of binding

more than my simpleton self

could figure

so it stays looped and coiled

waiting for you to find me

so I know whether to

climb or belay
