reap

in the spring, it sprouted

her choices planted

into the deep earth

hibernating through

ice box days and Siberian nights

her wonderment of what would grow

either had the kernel

both were worthy seeds

germinating in the thaw

as the soil relented

shoots started and her crop commenced

rows of rise

ready in the reap

her sickle dull

she realized

she was never good at cutting down

so she let them grow
