release

I know when I am released

sun will feel so warm on my shoulders

bright in my eyes of hurt and hunger

for the kind love that one melts into

drips of two and drops of us

flow into rivers of all

cold flow of the stream on my bare feet

from the mountains’ melt of spring ice

will be a taste of the pain I welcome

refreshing in the removal of my toe

from the water’s freeze and

warm walks of oneness in

hazel meadows
