name

I know not why you are such a part of me

I barely spoke your name more than a handful

at least to your face

in my pleasure and behind my eyelids

your name came crying forward more times than I care to admit

or remember

each utterance left its sour sting on my skin

red welt like strawberry birthmark on my thigh

pickening flesh as rosy as my cheeks when you spoke

my name

and I ache for that again

my moniker whispered in your breath as our lungs shared air
